Outset Director of Enterprise, Lee Hughes, speaks at IED Conference

IED Conference LogoWith economic growth high on the government agenda, the blueprints for bringing successful innovation skills to all could not come at a more valuable time. YTKO Group and Outset Director of Enterprise, Lee Hughes, shared his formula for successful innovation and inclusive business growth in his address at the Institute of Economic Development Annual Conference on Wednesday 20th November 2013, Westminster, London.

The theme of the IED Annual Conference 2013 was ‘Going for Growth’ with a programme that aimed to ‘discuss the most pressing issues in achieving true economic development and create an enabling environment for economic growth.’

The IED Annual Conference 2013 speaker line-up welcomed authoritative experts, case study representatives and Government figures, including former Deputy Prime Minister, The Rt Hon the Lord Heseltine CH, who delivered the opening address.

Lee’s own address on ‘Innovation and Business Growth for All’ offered a thought-leading opportunity to learn from his knowledge and experience of business start-up programmes. From rejuvenating costal communities to working with high-tech academics to enterprise development in deprived towns, Lee delivered a wide-ranging view of community regeneration that looked at the elements needed for successful entrepreneurial development.

Other items on the agenda at this year’s forum included getting to grips with the Single Local Growth Fund for Local Enterprise Partnerships, unlocking the potential of town centres, and planning for economic development. The Morning Keynote was delivered by Professor of Economic Geography, Professor Henry Overman, of the London School of Economics, and the Afternoon Keynote by the Deputy Director of the EU Programme, Dr Sue Baxter, of the Department for Business, Skills and Innovation.
